Textron Aviation has announced it will be the first business aviation Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to offer Gogo Galileo HDX, a Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) global connectivity solution, as an option on its Cessna Citation Longitude, Latitude, and Ascend aircraft. This move is set to provide passengers with enhanced in-flight Wi-Fi performance, thanks to the advanced satellite system.
The decision marks a significant shift in the business aviation industry, with Textron Aviation leading the way in adopting Gogo Business Aviation’s latest technology. The new Gogo Galileo HDX system, built on the company’s established AVANCE platform, will be factory-installed in new Cessna jets, ensuring customers have access to cutting-edge connectivity from the moment they take delivery of their aircraft.
The Gogo Galileo HDX system includes a fuselage-mounted antenna designed specifically for business jets, which allows for a more affordable and streamlined installation process compared to existing satellite systems. By integrating this system, Textron Aviation aims to deliver an exceptional in-flight internet experience to business travellers, enabling them to stay connected no matter where they fly.
Expanding connectivity for business aviation
Textron Aviation, a subsidiary of Textron Inc., is renowned for manufacturing a range of popular business jets, including the Cessna Citation series. The introduction of the Gogo Galileo HDX system is expected to enhance the inflight experience by offering global high-definition connectivity powered by a constellation of LEO satellites.
Lannie O’Bannion, Senior Vice President of Global Sales & Flight Operations at Textron Aviation, highlighted the company’s commitment to improving customer satisfaction: “At Textron Aviation, we are focused on delivering the best possible experience for our customers. By offering Gogo Galileo HDX on our Citation jets, we are ensuring that passengers can enjoy seamless, high-performance in-flight Wi-Fi wherever their travels take them.”
The Gogo Galileo HDX system will first be made available on the Cessna Citation Longitude, with the system expected to be offered to customers starting in early 2026. Availability for the Latitude and Ascend models will be announced at a later date.
Advanced technology and performance
Gogo’s AVANCE platform, which serves as the foundation for the Galileo HDX system, is a well-established solution known for its reliability in the business aviation sector. The new LEO satellite-based system is designed to provide faster and more consistent internet access compared to traditional satellite systems, making it particularly appealing to business travellers who rely on internet connectivity during flights.
The fuselage-mounted antenna used by the Galileo HDX system is optimised for business jets, helping to streamline installation and improve performance. Gogo’s Galileo HDX aims to deliver a superior Wi-Fi experience, allowing passengers to access high-speed internet for work, streaming, and communication, regardless of their flight path.
With Textron Aviation becoming the first OEM to offer the Galileo HDX as a factory-installed option, the company is reinforcing its position as a leader in business aviation technology, catering to the growing demand for reliable in-flight connectivity.
