Mahindra & Mahindra to Overhaul Supply Chain with Kinaxis Partnership

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), one of India’s leading automotive manufacturers, has announced a new partnership with global supply chain technology company Kinaxis to overhaul its supply chain planning. The collaboration aims to support M&M’s ambitious growth strategy by enhancing its transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness across its extensive vehicle production network.

As part of the partnership, Kinaxis will provide M&M with a cutting-edge, end-to-end supply chain orchestration platform that enables real-time visibility and decision-making. This technology is expected to give M&M a significant edge in managing the complexities of its supply chain, which is increasingly vital as the company continues its aggressive expansion, both in domestic and international markets.

M&M, which offers a wide range of vehicles, including SUVs, electric vehicles, and commercial vehicles, has a substantial global footprint and employs approximately 10,000 people. The company has been at the forefront of India’s automotive industry for years and is now looking to modernise its supply chain to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Rucha Nanavati, M&M’s Chief Digital Transformation Officer for the automotive sector, emphasised the importance of this initiative in boosting the company’s efficiency. “The connected Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) implementation with Kinaxis will, by design, lead to increased transparency and collaboration across departments. This will enhance our demand and supply forecast accuracy and facilitate comprehensive scenario modelling to drive efficiencies and agile decision-making across key cross-functional forums,” she said.

The move comes as the automotive sector faces rising pressure to adapt to rapid changes in demand and supply ecosystems, partly driven by the ongoing shift towards electric vehicles and more sustainable practices. In this context, a more agile and adaptable supply chain is crucial for companies like M&M that are working to maintain their leadership in the industry.

Phillip Teschemacher, Kinaxis’ President for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, praised the partnership’s potential for transforming M&M’s operations. “The need for agility-driven transformation to meet challenges and drive business success is imperative in today’s uncertain world,” he said. “We’re looking forward to working with the team at M&M and delivering the results they need to thrive.”

Kinaxis is renowned for its expertise in supply chain management, particularly in the mobility sector, which is known for its complex logistics. The company’s solutions are designed to manage the intricate demands of vehicle manufacturing, where hundreds of suppliers and thousands of individual parts must come together seamlessly. Kinaxis has already secured partnerships with major global vehicle manufacturers, including Volvo, Harley Davidson, Ford, Subaru, and General Motors.

With the inclusion of M&M in its customer base, Kinaxis is further cementing its position as a leader in supply chain planning for the mobility sector. The technology provided by Kinaxis will not only enable M&M to respond more effectively to market fluctuations but also give the company the tools it needs to drive long-term success in a fast-changing industry.
