Amflow, a new name in the electric mountain bike (eMTB) industry, has officially launched its first product, the Amflow PL, marking a significant entry into the market. This advanced e-bike combines powerful performance with an ultra-light design, setting new standards in the industry. Weighing just 19.2 kg and offering a peak power output of 850 W, the Amflow PL promises to deliver an unmatched riding experience for enthusiasts.

Peter Archer, Senior Product Specialist at Amflow, expressed the company’s commitment to innovation: “As engineers who are passionate about mountain biking, we’ve seen countless technological advancements that have yet to be integrated into the eMTB sector. With the Amflow PL, we’re bringing together our technical expertise and love for the sport, and we believe this is a pivotal moment for the eMTB industry.”

Revolutionary Design and Performance

At the heart of the Amflow PL is the DJI Avinox Drive System, which features cutting-edge technologies in both software and hardware. The drive unit includes a compound planetary gearset that delivers an industry-leading power-to-size ratio, with 105 Nm of torque and a peak power output of 850 W. Despite its impressive power, the drive unit itself weighs only 2.52 kg, making it one of the lightest on the market.

The bike’s ultra-light carbon fibre frame, weighing just 2.27 kg, has been meticulously crafted to provide optimal performance across a variety of terrains. The frame’s cutting-edge geometry ensures that the Amflow PL offers balanced and agile handling, whether on rugged trails or technical rides. Riders can also choose between 27.5″ and 29″ rear wheels, thanks to the bike’s adaptable frame structure, which allows for easy adjustments without compromising stability.

Advanced Assistance and Safety Features

The Amflow PL is equipped with multiple assistance modes, including a specialized Auto mode that adapts to real-time road conditions and rider position. For more challenging terrains, riders can activate Boost mode, which provides up to 120 Nm of torque and 1000 W of power, allowing steep inclines to be tackled with ease.

In addition, the bike includes intelligent features such as Walk mode for incline traversing, Auto Hold to prevent rollback on slopes, and Hill Start Assist for added torque on inclines. The Amflow PL also incorporates stationary gear-shifting, offering a smooth and intuitive riding experience.

The bike’s rear shock system, developed in collaboration with FOX, ensures superior suspension, providing sensitive initial stroke response and strong end-stroke support to prevent bottoming out during high-speed impacts. This partnership underscores Amflow’s dedication to delivering a top-tier riding experience.

Battery Life and Charging Capabilities

The Avinox system’s battery, weighing just 2.87 kg, offers an impressive range, supported by a comprehensive battery health management system. The system includes real-time monitoring and features such as self-discharge, active voltage reduction, and abnormality alerts, ensuring long-term reliability. Notably, the battery retains at least 80% of its capacity after 500 charge-discharge cycles.

For those eager to get back on the trails, the Amflow PL comes with a 12A/508W GaN fast charger, capable of charging the battery from 0% to 75% in just 1.5 hours.

User-Friendly Interface and Connectivity

Riders can control the Amflow PL through a 2-inch full-colour OLED touchscreen, integrated into the frame. This display provides real-time riding data and allows for easy adjustments on the go. Additionally, Bluetooth-enabled wireless controllers offer further convenience, enabling riders to switch modes while riding.

The Amflow PL is also compatible with the Avinox app, which offers a range of features, including customizable riding parameters, anti-theft mode, remote locating, and comprehensive data recording. Riders can sync their ride data with third-party apps like Strava, sharing their experiences with the wider eMTB community.

Global Availability and Quality Assurance

Amflow has ensured that the Amflow PL meets the highest standards of reliability and safety, with certifications from authoritative bodies such as TÜV SÜD, UL Solutions, and TÜV Rheinland. The company has also established a testing platform to assess frame strength, waterproofing, and long-distance transportation under real-world conditions.

The Amflow PL is expected to be available by Q4 2024 through authorized dealers in Germany, the UK, Australia, and other regions. Amflow’s global service network will provide customers with professional support, ensuring a seamless ownership experience.
