XING Mobility, a leader in immersion cooling battery technologies, has unveiled its latest innovation, the IMMERSIO™ XM28, at the IAA Transportation 2024 event in Hannover, Germany. This breakthrough product, designed for medium and heavy-duty electric commercial vehicles, is set to redefine the performance and efficiency of electric transport.

The IMMERSIO™ XM28 promises a twofold improvement in range and overall performance compared to its predecessor, the IMMERSIO™ XM25, which was introduced in 2019. The enhanced battery features a higher energy density, using advanced ternary lithium chemistry, and optimises space with XING Mobility’s signature immersion cooling system. This advanced thermal management system significantly extends battery lifespan, reduces operating costs, and improves the range of electric commercial vehicles, making the XM28 a highly competitive solution in the fast-growing electric vehicle market.

Royce YC Hong, Co-founder and Chairman of XING Mobility, emphasised the significance of this new product: “XING Mobility leverages our high-spec research and development experience from electric supercar projects to continuously evolve the IMMERSIO™ XM series. Our expertise in thermal management has solidified our position as a trusted partner in the industry. The IMMERSIO™ XM28 has already attracted considerable interest from potential customers.”

The IMMERSIO™ XM28’s immersion cooling technology offers significant safety benefits, including active thermal runaway suppression. This capability rapidly cools battery cells from temperatures of thousands of degrees to below 100°C within 30 seconds, preventing the risk of thermal propagation. The system ensures a uniform temperature across high-voltage batteries, a crucial factor in maintaining their performance and safety in demanding commercial applications.

XING Mobility’s immersion-cooled batteries have been rigorously tested and certified by leading automotive manufacturers. Their robust and modular design makes them an ideal choice for commercial electric vehicles, and the technology has already been successfully deployed in real-world applications. Notable examples include its use in Nordic Booster’s Hummingbird® fast charging station and a collaboration with electric logistics vehicle provider Cruise X to develop a 4.5-ton electric truck. The truck features a 112 kWh battery, a top speed of 110 km/h, and a range exceeding 200 km, further demonstrating the versatility and potential of XING Mobility’s technologies in the logistics sector.

In addition to the product launch, XING Mobility recently opened the world’s first immersion cooling battery technology factory in Taiwan. The XING Paradigm Factory will support the mass production of immersion-cooled batteries and is a key milestone in the company’s global expansion plans. The factory will facilitate the rapid replication of production lines and enable technology transfers, further driving the company’s mission to support global electrification with sustainable solutions.

“XING Paradigm Factory strengthens our global technical presence and reinforces our commitment to a safer and more sustainable future,” added Hong.

XING Mobility will showcase the IMMERSIO™ XM28 and other innovations, including its CTP batteries, at the IAA Transportation event, which runs from 17 to 22 September 2024. With its strong foundation in Taiwan and increasing global presence, the company is pushing the boundaries of high-voltage battery technology, ensuring stability, safety, and sustainability for the future of electric transportation.
