Duckhams drivers Adam Smalley and Shaun Balfe have achieved a commendable third place in the overall GT3 standings at the conclusion of the 2024 British GT Championship. The pair, who earlier secured the Silver-Am title at Snetterton with two rounds to spare, have showcased exceptional talent and teamwork throughout the season.
In their first year competing in the British GT Championship, Smalley and Balfe delivered an impressive performance, clinching seven class victories across nine races. This season has seen them not only claim the Silver-Am title but also finish third in the overall GT3 Drivers’ standings, marking a remarkable achievement for the duo.
Reflecting on their season, Adam Smalley expressed pride in their accomplishments. “Overall, it has been an amazing season. We would have liked to have gone out with a good result, but that was out of everyone’s control,” he said. “The goal was the overall title going into the last round, and although we mathematically could have won it, it would have required a lot of luck on our side. Realistically, the aim was to maintain that top three in the overall championship.”
Smalley’s success this year adds to his accolades, including a victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2023. He noted the significance of winning seven out of nine Silver-Am races, stating, “I’m made up with how the year has gone and I couldn’t have asked for much better in my debut year. Shaun has done a mega job all season, and the guys at Garage 59 have been great. A big thank you to everyone, and I also have to thank my sponsors for all their support this year. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
