Bombardier has announced that its Global 7500 business jet has reached a major performance milestone, setting 100 speed records across various routes worldwide.
The latest record-breaking flight took place on 28 February, when the aircraft completed a journey from San Luis Obispo, California, to London Biggin Hill Airport in just nine hours and 17 minutes, achieving an average speed of nearly 1,000 km/h.
Among the notable city pairs where the Global 7500 has set records are Tokyo to San Francisco, London to Riyadh, Oakland to Tokyo, Hartford to Dubai, and Tokyo to Toronto.
The aircraft previously made history with the longest recorded business aviation flight, covering 8,225 nautical miles from Sydney to Detroit. It was also the first business jet to complete a non-stop journey from London City Airport to Los Angeles.
Unmatched Speed and Efficiency
Bombardier’s Executive Vice President of Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defence, Jean-Christophe Gallagher, highlighted the aircraft’s performance and reliability.
“Bombardier customers need a reliable, fast, efficient business tool that gets them to their destination quickly and efficiently,” he said.
“The Global 7500 aircraft sets the standard in the ultra-long-range class for its technological advancements and impressive performance capabilities. These speed records prove it can complete any type of mission.”
Gallagher added that Bombardier is looking ahead to the Global 8000, set to enter service later this year, which is expected to further push performance limits.
Cutting-Edge Technology
With a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a range of 7,700 nautical miles (14,260 km), the Global 7500 is among the fastest and most capable business jets available today.
It features the Smooth Flĕx Wing, an advanced design that optimises aerodynamics, reduces fuel consumption, lowers emissions, and enhances passenger comfort.
The aircraft is also designed to serve as an efficient mobile workspace, featuring four living spaces, a full-size kitchen, and a dedicated crew suite. It includes Bombardier’s Nuage seat, which offers a zero-gravity position for enhanced comfort during long-haul flights.
The Future: Global 8000
Bombardier is preparing to launch the Global 8000, a next-generation business jet with a range of 8,000 nautical miles and a top speed of Mach 0.94.
The aircraft will also feature a low cabin altitude of under 2,900 feet at 41,000 feet, improving passenger comfort. Manufacturing is already underway in North America, with Bombardier on track for an entry into service in 2025.
Ahead of its launch, current Global 7500 owners can purchase an upgrade package to enhance their aircraft’s speed, range, and cabin altitude.
Bombardier acknowledged the role of ACI Jet in San Luis Obispo and London Biggin Hill Airport in supporting its record-breaking flights.
