A new study has ranked the fastest cars ever driven by James Bond, with the 2007 Aston Martin DBS V12 securing the top spot. The analysis, conducted by lifestyle magazine Dailybase, evaluated over 150 cars featured in the iconic franchise, assessing their top speeds and acceleration to produce a speed score out of 100.
The Aston Martin DBS V12, driven by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale (2006), achieved a top speed of 307 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. It earned a near-perfect performance score of 98.48 out of 100, making it the fastest vehicle Bond has driven. The car, which famously met its demise during a high-speed chase after the villain Le Chiffre, has become an iconic symbol of the franchise.
In second place is the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, featured in Die Another Day (2002). Known for its innovative “adaptive camouflage” technology, which made the car appear almost invisible in the film, the Vanquish reached a top speed of 309 km/h and accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. It achieved an overall score of 98.29, just shy of the DBS V12.
The third fastest car, the Aston Martin DB10, was introduced in Spectre (2015). Designed as a special edition to celebrate the partnership between Aston Martin and the Bond franchise, the DB10 achieved a speed score of 97.25. With a top speed of 310 km/h, it accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
Aston Martin dominated the rankings, taking four of the top 10 spots. The fourth-place Aston Martin V8 Vantage, featured in The Living Daylights (1987), scored 87.91, with a top speed of 273 km/h and an acceleration time of 6.1 seconds. It also made an appearance in No Time to Die (2021).
The BMW Z8 from The World Is Not Enough (1999) rounded out the top five, with a score of 84.89. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in five seconds, the Z8 was equipped with surface-to-air missiles and remote-control features in the film, although it met an unfortunate end, being sliced in half by a helicopter.
Other cars in the top 10 included the BMW 750iL from Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), the Jaguar XJ (X351) LWB from Skyfall (2012), the iconic Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger (1964), the Lotus Esprit Turbo 2.2 from For Your Eyes Only (1981), and the Aston Martin DBS from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969).
Daniël de Voer, chief editor of Dailybase, said: “James Bond’s cars are not just vehicles—they are legendary symbols of sophistication and adventure. To drive one is to experience a piece of Bond’s world.”
