UK-based aviation specialist Aviramp has secured two significant orders worth £1.13 million from airports in Australia and New Zealand, further consolidating its position as a leader in the global aviation industry. The deals, involving Sydney and Queenstown airports, mark a record year for the Telford company, which has pioneered step-free, non-slip ramps designed to improve airport accessibility.
Aviramp will supply Sydney Airport with two solar-powered Continental ramps and two solar-powered international ramps. At Queenstown Airport in New Zealand, the company is delivering two new Continental ramps, adding to the fleet already in use at the airport.
Graham Corfield, Chief Executive of Aviramp, highlighted the importance of the new orders, noting the company’s growing international footprint. “We now have Aviramps in more than 40 countries, transforming the passenger experience by offering a safe, dignified way for people to board and disembark from aircraft, regardless of their personal circumstances,” Corfield said.
Aviramp’s patented ramps feature a gentle slope and a 360-degree design, which improves accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility, families with young children, and wheelchair users. The ramps not only enhance the boarding experience for travellers but also improve operational efficiency by reducing aircraft turnaround times.
Global Success and Industry Innovation
The company’s innovative ramps are designed with practicality and sustainability in mind. The solar-powered ramps can be operated by a single individual and are capable of running for a full day, even in cloudy weather conditions. This feature aligns with the aviation industry’s growing commitment to sustainability and meeting Net Zero targets.
Corfield emphasised the growing demand for Aviramp’s eco-friendly ramps, stating, “The success of our pioneering solar ramps continues to grow as the industry seeks to meet its environmental responsibilities.”
Aviramp’s success in New Zealand underscores the strong customer loyalty it has built. Queenstown Airport, an existing client, placed additional orders after positive experiences with the company’s previous products. “Once an operator has used an Aviramp, they never go back,” Corfield added, stressing the reliability and effectiveness of the ramps.
Additional Orders Strengthen Best-Ever Trading Year
In addition to the Australasia deals, Aviramp has also secured over £300,000 in additional orders from airports including Toronto Pearson in Canada, Humberside Airport in the UK, and Palma Airport in Spain. These new orders have helped make 2024 the company’s best trading year to date, with nearly 50 ramps ordered by airports and operators worldwide.
Aviramp’s products are used when aircraft are parked on remote stands, offering a safer, more accessible alternative to traditional stairways and separate ambulift systems for passengers with mobility issues. The company’s ramps are fitted with a non-slip surface to ensure passenger safety, making them a preferred choice for operators prioritising accessibility and safety.
With a growing global presence and increasing demand for its ramps, Aviramp continues to solidify its reputation as a leader in aviation accessibility solutions. The company, which holds the prestigious Queen’s Award for International Trade, is poised for further expansion as airports across the globe look for ways to improve the passenger experience and meet sustainability goals.
