British design and engineering studio CALLUM has completed a reimagining of Jaguar’s C-X75 supercar, delivering what many enthusiasts view as the ultimate road version of the renowned concept car. The new bespoke C-X75, completed as a private commission, fulfils the original 2010 design vision, adding refined luxury and everyday usability to Jaguar’s iconic design.
CALLUM’s latest project is its second on a C-X75, following the transformation of a stunt car from the James Bond film Spectre. Unlike the movie car, this commission – based on Car 001 of the original models – goes further, with upgrades to power, aerodynamics, and interior comfort. Ian Callum, founder and design director at CALLUM, stated, “C-X75 was ‘the one that got away’ – a car brimming with unfulfilled potential. This commission finally brings that vision to life, balancing performance with elegance.”
The bespoke project centres around a supercharged V8 engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, offering dynamic driving versatility. CALLUM’s engineers have programmed dual driving modes, allowing the vehicle to effortlessly switch between a road-focused, everyday mode and a sportier performance setting. The transition sharpens gear shifts and amplifies the exhaust note, fine-tuned by an acoustic expert for maximum effect.
Aerodynamic refinements play a significant role in the car’s improved stability, with an active aero system that activates above 60 km/h, providing additional downforce. The system includes an air brake feature to enhance control during heavy braking. For city driving, a hydraulic front-lift suspension aids practicality, allowing the vehicle to navigate urban roads with ease.
The vehicle’s interior represents a complete transformation from its stunt-car origins, replacing the stripped-back racing cockpit with a premium, driver-focused environment. Dark green and cream shades are split by a dynamic “waterline” running through the cabin, a design element meant to reflect both the luxury and performance nature of the car. “We aimed to blend the sporting nature of dark interiors with the luxury associated with lighter shades,” noted CALLUM’s head of design, Aleck Jones.
The interior includes custom features like leather upholstery from Bridge of Weir, integrated Apple CarPlay, and a powerful sound system. Inspired by aviation design, controls, including the start button, are roof-mounted to maintain a sleek aesthetic. The driver’s display is framed by a bespoke acrylic cover, while other custom elements, like a billet-machined steering wheel, underscore the personal touch involved in this project.
CALLUM’s use of advanced additive manufacturing has enabled complex design features, incorporating 3D-printed elements into the interior such as a discreet cup holder built into the door sills. The car’s Willow Green paint job, requiring over 1,000 hours of craftsmanship, adds a soft, earthy finish that complements the vehicle’s bespoke aluminium detailing.
This project exemplifies CALLUM’s capabilities in taking unique commissions from concept to reality. David Fairbairn, CALLUM’s managing director, commented, “With each project, we continue to push the boundaries of automotive engineering, blending aesthetic detail and functionality to create one-of-a-kind vehicles.”
CALLUM’s custom Jaguar C-X75 is one of a growing portfolio of bespoke projects coming out of their Warwick-based studio. The company is also working on an electrified sportscar project and developing the limited-edition CALLUM Vanquish 25, with each project underscoring the studio’s dedication to personalised, high-performance automotive experiences.
