Hyundai Motor Company has reached a major milestone, celebrating the production of its 100 millionth vehicle. The South Korean automaker achieved this feat in just 57 years since its founding, marking it as one of the fastest-growing companies in the global automotive industry. A special ceremony was held at Hyundai’s Ulsan Plant in Korea to commemorate the occasion.

As part of the celebration, Hyundai Motor presented its 100 millionth and first vehicle, an IONIQ 5, to a customer in a symbolic handover ceremony. The vehicle rolled off the final inspection line at the Ulsan Plant, where a special event was held to honour the milestone. The display highlighted ‘100 million and 1,’ reflecting Hyundai’s commitment to building on its past achievements and striving for further innovation.

Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, expressed gratitude to customers worldwide for their role in the company’s success. “Reaching global cumulative production of 100 million vehicles is a meaningful milestone that was possible thanks to our customers around the world who have chosen and supported Hyundai Motor since the very beginning,” he said. “Taking on bold challenges and being in constant pursuit of innovation has enabled us to achieve rapid growth and will empower us to take ‘one step further’ toward another 100 million units as a mobility game changer.”

Hyundai Motor’s journey to 100 million vehicles has been driven by its dedication to innovation and ambitious growth strategies. The company has expanded its portfolio over the years, including the launch of the luxury brand Genesis, the high-performance division N, and the development of electric vehicles (EVs) such as the IONIQ 5, based on its Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

Dong Seock Lee, President and Head of Domestic Productions and Chief Safety Officer at Hyundai Motor Company, also praised the hard work of Hyundai’s workforce. “Each and every employee at Hyundai Motor has contributed to the accumulation of 100 million units through their hard work and dedication,” he said. “This auspicious occasion is just the first step toward the future era of electrification that Hyundai Motor will lead.”

The IONIQ 5, Hyundai’s landmark 100 millionth vehicle, is a symbol of the company’s ambitions in the EV market. With its dedicated electric platform, the car represents Hyundai’s shift towards a more sustainable and electrified future. The IONIQ 5 is part of the company’s broader commitment to offering innovative mobility solutions and leading the global EV market.

Hyundai Motor’s production milestone reflects the company’s rapid rise in the automotive sector since its early years, and it is now focused on becoming a leader in electrification and future mobility solutions. The company has stated its intention to continue pushing boundaries and embracing new technologies as it looks towards the next chapter in its history.

To mark the occasion, Hyundai has also released a commemorative video reflecting on the company’s journey and its future ambitions in the global automotive market.
