In a bid to alleviate anticipated traffic congestion during the peak tourist season, Segway, a leading name in sustainable micro-mobility, has teamed up with Tier-Dott, a global leader in shared transport solutions. From July 26 to August 11, the partnership is set to provide 10,000 complimentary e-bike rides for tourists flocking to Paris. With an expected influx of 15 million additional visitors, this initiative aims to ease pressure on the city’s transport infrastructure while offering eco-friendly travel options to both tourists and residents.

Segway has long championed the cause of safety and community well-being in urban mobility. Since 2018, the company has collaborated with over 240 shared mobility operators worldwide, including Tier-Dott, to foster a safer and greener travel ecosystem. This initiative not only reinforces Segway’s commitment to sustainable transport but also aims to raise awareness of environmentally friendly transportation choices across Europe, positioning the brand as a leader in the green micro-mobility market.

As Paris braces for millions of tourists and locals navigating the city, the expected high demand for conventional public transport could lead to congestion. However, the city’s vibrant cycling culture, bolstered by this initiative, will provide an alternative. Tourists can easily access free e-bike rides by registering on the Dott app, where they can either scan a hangtag QR code or input the “Segway” code to redeem their complimentary ride.

This programme is part of Segway’s broader mission to enhance urban transportation sustainability and aligns with the European shift towards low-carbon travel solutions. By promoting the use of e-bikes, Segway aims to contribute to reducing the carbon footprint associated with urban transport.

Segway’s initiative comes at a time when cities around the world are experiencing rapid changes in urban environments, prompting an urgent need for efficient transportation solutions. By partnering with shared mobility operators like Tier-Dott, Segway is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for sustainable travel options while advocating for a harmonious balance between business and environmental responsibility.

Robert W. Smith, Head of Global Partnerships at Segway, commented on the initiative: “We are thrilled to work alongside Tier-Dott to offer tourists in Paris a sustainable and convenient way to explore the city. This initiative not only helps ease the expected transportation congestion but also showcases the benefits of e-bikes as a green travel solution.”

The partnership reflects a growing recognition of the importance of sustainable transport solutions in addressing urban challenges. As cities worldwide continue to grapple with traffic congestion and environmental concerns, initiatives like Segway’s free e-bike rides serve as a model for future urban mobility strategies.
