China Eastern Airlines has been designated as the “Official Airline Service Provider” for the recent conference themed “Uniting for Global Prosperity,” which attracted over 800 guests from various sectors worldwide. The event, which focused on critical issues such as energy, green finance, sustainable consumption, and technology’s role in public welfare, brought together influential speakers, including Ban Ki-moon, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.
The conference served as a platform for discussions on pressing topics, including “dual carbon” goals aimed at reducing emissions and promoting sustainable development. The event was notable for its gathering of leaders from major international organisations, industry heads, and Nobel Prize laureates, reflecting its global significance.
At China Eastern Airlines’ booth, a range of innovative products caught the attention of attendees. Notably, the airline showcased its “Smart Inspection Platform for Bore Damage,” the first of its kind in China’s civil aviation industry. Other products included anti-fatigue wristbands for pilots, security personnel wristbands, and anti-impact wristbands for luggage, all designed to enhance safety and efficiency in line with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
In its role as the official airline, China Eastern Airlines provided comprehensive travel solutions for over 50 key guests from cities including Paris, New York, and Kuala Lumpur. The airline’s commitment to excellence was evident in its provision of the “Four Excellences” services, which left a lasting impression on participants and highlighted the airline’s dedication to high-quality service.
In recent years, China Eastern Airlines has emphasised sustainable development by enhancing its ESG governance and performance. The airline is notably the first to operate the C919 aircraft, having successfully completed its maiden commercial flight and regular operations. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the airline and the Chinese aviation industry.
In collaboration with stakeholders, China Eastern Airlines has introduced new initiatives aimed at promoting “Energy-saving and Low-carbon Green Flying.” The airline’s customer-centric approach ensures it delivers high-quality aviation products while leveraging experiences from initiatives such as the “Green Rural Revival Program” to support rural revitalisation efforts across China.
For 16 consecutive years, China Eastern Airlines has published its ESG report, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and accountability in sustainability practices. Since 2018, the airline has seen its MSCI ESG Ratings improve steadily, achieving an A rating for both 2020 and 2021.
As China Eastern Airlines continues to lead in sustainable aviation practices and customer service excellence, its participation in the “Uniting for Global Prosperity” conference reinforces its position as a key player in addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development in the aviation sector.
