Chinese luxury carmaker HONGQI made a significant impact at the 2024 Paris Motor Show with the debut of its new energy vehicles, the EH7 and EHS7. These electric models marked the company’s first foray into the European market, and the announcement of open orders across the continent drew considerable attention from consumers and industry insiders alike.
Both the EH7 and EHS7 are designed to offer a compelling blend of performance, advanced technology, and affordability. Priced competitively, the EH7 starts at €49,999, while the EHS7 is available from €53,999, making them highly attractive options for European customers seeking high-quality electric vehicles (EVs).
Mr Liu Changqing, Vice President of HONGQI’s Brand Operation Committee at FAW, led the launch event, presenting the brand’s rich heritage and highlighting its ambitious plans to become a leading player in the global luxury car market. He described the EH7 and EHS7 as “cost-effective vehicles” that would appeal to a broad range of customers. He also emphasised that the cars exemplify HONGQI’s commitment to innovation and eco-friendly technology.
Electric Models Garner Global Attention
Both models have generated significant buzz at the show, with attendees praising their design and technological capabilities. The EH7, a sleek and sophisticated electric saloon, and the EHS7, a larger electric SUV, showcase HONGQI’s push into the electric vehicle sector, which aligns with the growing demand for greener transport solutions in Europe.
The company’s presence at the Paris Motor Show brought a vibrant splash of “Chinese red” to the event, adding to the anticipation around the launch. The debut of these vehicles is a milestone for HONGQI, which seeks to establish itself as the “World’s New Luxury Automotive Brand,” with a focus on sustainability and high-quality products.
Joyce Jonathan Becomes First HONGQI EHS7 Owner
In a surprise move, French singer Joyce Jonathan appeared at the launch event, where she was announced as the first owner of the HONGQI EHS7. Her association with the brand is expected to boost HONGQI’s visibility in France and the broader European market, particularly as the brand seeks to attract eco-conscious consumers looking for luxury in electric vehicles.
Additionally, HONGQI took the opportunity to announce a new co-branding project with SCABAL, an internationally renowned fabric manufacturer. This collaboration will focus on quality and innovation, further positioning HONGQI as a brand committed to craftsmanship and technological excellence.
Future Strategy for European Expansion
HONGQI’s long-term strategy for the European market was laid out during the launch. The company plans to develop a robust network of new energy vehicle channels across the continent and strengthen partnerships with European firms to increase brand awareness. Over the next five years, HONGQI intends to introduce 10 additional models tailored to the preferences of European and global consumers, focusing on intelligent, eco-friendly, and high-performance vehicles.
With this ambitious roadmap, the company is set to challenge established luxury automakers in Europe, positioning itself as a key player in the burgeoning market for electric vehicles.
