IMO Car Wash is celebrating its 60th anniversary on 8 March with a new look and a series of innovations aimed at enhancing both customer experience and environmental sustainability. The company, which operates across Europe and Australia, has unveiled a fresh brand identity in bold blue while introducing cutting-edge car care technology.

Since its founding in 1965, IMO has washed millions of vehicles worldwide, becoming a trusted name in the industry. Now, the company is marking six decades in business by launching new wash products and upgrading its technology, in partnership with German firm WashTec, to improve performance and efficiency.

New graphene-based protection

Among the latest developments is Graphene G60, a breakthrough in car protection technology. This new wash formula incorporates advanced carbon weave technology and a self-cleaning finish, designed to give vehicles a lasting shine and added durability. The product is set to be trialled at select IMO sites in 2025, offering customers a next-generation solution for car care.

Graphene, a material known for its strength and conductivity, has been increasingly used in automotive coatings for its protective properties. IMO’s introduction of Graphene G60 signals a shift towards more advanced and high-performance wash solutions that extend vehicle longevity while maintaining a polished appearance.

Sustainability at the forefront

Alongside performance upgrades, IMO has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability. The company is introducing fine-mist applicators and new water nozzles designed to reduce water consumption while maintaining cleaning efficiency.

This move complements IMO’s ongoing investment in renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, as well as its rainwater capture systems, which help to minimise its environmental impact. The latest innovations demonstrate how the company is integrating eco-friendly technology into its operations without compromising on service quality.

A legacy of innovation

Operating in over 720 locations, IMO serves more than 25 million customers annually. The company has built its reputation on efficiency and consistency, using an automated system that delivers uniform washes at high speed.

“Over the past 60 years, we have continually evolved to meet the needs of our customers while embracing technological advancements,” an IMO spokesperson said. “Our latest developments, including the Graphene G60 wash and sustainability upgrades, reflect our ongoing mission to combine innovation with environmental responsibility.”

As the company enters its seventh decade, it remains focused on enhancing customer experience while maintaining its position as a leader in the car wash industry. With a fresh brand identity and a suite of new technologies, IMO aims to continue shaping the future of automated car washing.

The milestone anniversary serves as a reminder of IMO’s impact over the past six decades and signals a commitment to further advancements in both performance and sustainability.
