At the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 in Hannover, Germany, Chinese battery manufacturer REPT BATTERO unveiled its latest innovation for the electrification of heavy commercial vehicles. The “BIG BANK” battery system, designed specifically for the European market, promises to offer flexible, high-performance solutions to power the next generation of electric trucks, further promoting sustainability in the commercial vehicle industry.

The IAA TRANSPORTATION exhibition is a key event in the commercial vehicle sector, attracting over 1,650 companies from the fields of logistics and transport. This year’s event is showcasing the newest technological advancements aimed at the green transformation of the industry. Among the highlights was the introduction of REPT BATTERO’s “BIG BANK” system, which has been engineered to meet the growing demand for durable, efficient, and high-range electric power solutions in Europe.

Innovative Battery System

The “BIG BANK” battery system is designed for use in heavy, medium, and light trucks, offering a versatile range of combinations to suit different vehicle sizes and usage scenarios. The system boasts an energy density of over 210Wh/kg and a primary 500kWh system that can power heavy-duty trucks for over 500km on a single charge.

As European regulations and market demands continue to push for greener alternatives in the transport sector, advancements in electric vehicle battery technology are key. The “BIG BANK” system is part of a new wave of innovations aimed at improving the efficiency, range, and longevity of electric truck batteries.

REPT BATTERO’s system also delivers exceptional performance in areas such as fast charging, safety, and low-temperature operation. The “BIG BANK” system supports 2C fast charging, enabling vehicles to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, greatly enhancing operational efficiency. The system’s advanced safety monitoring can prevent thermal runaway, while its thermal management ensures stable operation even at temperatures as low as -35°C. Additionally, the system has a cycle life of up to 5,000, offering a service lifespan of more than 10 years.

Customised Solutions for Freight and Logistics

The “BIG BANK” system is not just a product but a comprehensive solution designed to cater to the varied demands of the commercial vehicle sector. Its flexible design allows it to be adapted for different transport distances and truck sizes, making it a highly versatile option for the freight and logistics industry. In some configurations, the battery system can achieve a range of over 600km.

Additionally, REPT BATTERO is expanding its offering by providing a version of the “BIG BANK” system tailored for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). This variant has a capacity of up to 31.5kWh, an energy density of 171Wh/kg, and a cycle life of up to 8,000 cycles. This makes it suitable for users requiring long-range capabilities, high power output, and long battery life.

As Europe continues its push towards electrification, innovations like the “BIG BANK” battery system are set to play a significant role in transforming the region’s commercial transport sector, helping it meet its sustainability targets.
