Kia Rolls Out Ignition Guards to Foil TikTok Bandits

In a bid to outsmart the TikTok-inspired theft spree that plagued the latter part of 2021, Kia is hitting back with a practical solution – ignition guards. No Hollywood-style drama here, just Kia taking a stand against the notorious Kia Boyz and their sticky-fingered antics.

After weathering a storm of customer grievances, legal battles, and likely more than a few headaches caused by the TikTok trend, Kia is now deploying an extra layer of defence for owners of its more pilferable vehicles – an ignition cylinder protector. But hold on, it’s not a universal fix, and not everyone will be bestowed with this automotive armour. Kia is directing these guards specifically to those whose vehicles missed out on the security-focused software update issued last year.

This preventative measure takes the form of a complimentary dealer-installed modification, available since December 20. Kia’s masterstroke involves reinforcing the ignition cylinder body with this protector, rendering the techniques promoted by the TikTok trend ineffective.

Kia is throwing down the gauntlet and making a statement. Each vehicle receiving this upgrade will proudly showcase window decals, a deterrent for potential thieves, boldly announcing that this ride is off-limits.

Now, for the nitty-gritty. This exclusive modification caters to models featuring a key-operated ignition system. Are you behind the wheel of a 2011–2016 Forte, a 2011–2021 Rio, a 2014 Sedona, a 2010–2021 Soul, or a 2011–2016 Sportage? Congratulations, you’re in the frontline for this added protection.

But let’s not forget, this isn’t Kia’s first rodeo in the battle against theft. Last year, they strategically deployed a security-focused software update, safeguarding over 900,000 vehicles in 2023. Kia is covering both the physical and virtual fronts to keep car bandits at bay.

And what if your vehicle missed the digital security boat? Fear not. Kia, in collaboration with local law enforcement, is extending a helping hand in the form of free steering wheel locks. Over 325,000 of these practical anti-theft devices have already found their way into the hands of vehicle owners who couldn’t benefit from the software update. Kia reassures that the supply of these locks will continue as long as there’s a need.

In conclusion, Kia is not taking the TikTok banditry lightly. They’re providing their valued customers with ignition guards, coupled with security updates and steering wheel locks. It’s a Kia revolution against thieves, all executed with a meticulous focus on professional protection.

So, Kia enthusiasts, drive with peace of mind. Your vehicle just got a serious upgrade in the security department. As for the TikTok bandits, it seems like Kia has dealt a winning hand. Better luck trying your antics elsewhere – Kia is ready for whatever comes its way.
