LG Innotek, a global leader in advanced materials and components, has been awarded a prestigious CES 2025 Innovation Award for its groundbreaking automotive lighting module, Nexlide A+. The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) recognised the innovation, design, and functionality of the Nexlide A+ ahead of the highly anticipated CES event in January 2025.
The Nexlide A+ is part of LG Innotek’s Nexlide series, which focuses on cutting-edge vehicle lighting solutions. The module is the first in the automotive industry to incorporate a surface light source into front lighting modules. Unlike traditional point light sources, this technology ensures even light distribution across the entire surface, eliminating the need for bulky components like light guides or thick air gaps typically required for light diffusion.
Revolutionising Automotive Lighting
The Nexlide A+ delivers enhanced design flexibility and functionality, being 40% slimmer than conventional products. This space-saving advantage allows for greater creative freedom in vehicle designs while also improving thermal management with high heat-resistant resin coatings and advanced film technology.
The module meets stringent global standards, offering five times the brightness of conventional lighting products and achieving the required 500 candela brightness for daytime running lights. With over 700 patents secured for its lighting technology, LG Innotek is solidifying its position as a pioneer in the field.
Driving Future Mobility
Automotive lighting modules, including the Nexlide A+, are core to LG Innotek’s strategy within the growing mobility market. The company has completed more than 140 projects with global automotive brands and amassed over 150 orders, achieving an impressive annual sales growth rate of 47% over the past decade.
Looking ahead, LG Innotek plans to expand its offerings with front-lighting modules and introduce “pixel lighting” technology by 2025. This next-generation technology involves small, three-dimensional lights arranged in grids to enhance vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) communication, promoting safety and interaction.
CEO’s Vision
Moon Hyuksoo, CEO of LG Innotek, stated: “LG Innotek is cementing its status as a total solution provider for future mobility components. We aim to transform the automotive lighting module business into a trillion-dollar industry by 2030, delivering innovative and unique value to our customers.”
CES 2025 Showcase
