Design and engineering firm CALLUM has revealed the interior of its highly anticipated electric vehicle, the CALLUM SKYE. Known for its blend of rugged performance and refined design, the vehicle’s interior delivers a luxurious and functional space tailored to the needs of both city driving and off-road adventures.
The CALLUM SKYE is an all-wheel-drive, multi-terrain electric vehicle designed for those who want both capability and sophistication. Its 2+2 enclosed cabin sets it apart from its competitors in the high-performance electric vehicle market. While the exterior showcases strength and durability, the interior reflects a carefully considered balance of elegance and practicality.
According to Aleck Jones, head of design at CALLUM, the interior combines simple yet thoughtful design solutions with a premium feel. “Clever design keeps the interior light and airy while maintaining a refined atmosphere, all within the confines of a compact cabin. It’s all about balance – creating an environment that is both functional and indulgent,” he said.
The ‘dynamic’ prototype of the CALLUM SKYE, finished in the brand’s signature ‘Vitamin C’ orange, is a visual testament to the vehicle’s bold character. The interior features a prominent horizontal bar graphic running across the dashboard, in line with the exterior’s dramatic lines. This visual element is mirrored within the cabin, with premium silver metallic finishes accenting the doors, centre console, and steering wheel.
CALLUM’s colour, material, and finish designer, Charlotte Jones, highlighted the challenge of keeping the vehicle lightweight without sacrificing luxury. “We’ve utilised lightweight solutions, such as flax composite body panels with bio-resin, which contribute to the vehicle’s overall performance. At the same time, the premium finishes reflect CALLUM’s commitment to quality,” she said.
The centrepiece of the interior is the sleek, ‘blade-like’ console that spans between the front seats. This console houses tactile switchgear and features a set of touchscreen rotary dials for key functions such as heating and ventilation controls. The clean, minimalist dashboard is home to a central touchscreen set to feature both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, offering seamless connectivity.
The vehicle’s seats are trimmed in luxurious ‘Arctic Pearl’ white leather, sourced from Bridge of Weir, with a semi-aniline finish for added comfort. The leather, complemented by accents in ‘Vitamin C’ orange, adds vibrancy and sophistication to the cabin. A removable rear bench seat suitable for children further enhances the car’s family-friendly design.
CALLUM has also incorporated its signature ‘deconstructed tartan’ design, digitally printed on the leather of the door cards, centre console, and glove compartment. The leather’s tactile qualities, along with carefully matched stitching and accents, reflect CALLUM’s dedication to craftsmanship.
The CALLUM SKYE’s interior is hand-trimmed by artisans at Bridge of Weir’s Advanced Design Studio, based in Warwick. The collaboration allows for intricate, high-quality finishes, while offering future customers the option of personalising both the interior and exterior of their vehicle.
The CALLUM SKYE is powered by a 42kWh battery, providing an estimated range of 170 miles. With a weight of just 1,150kg, it is set to offer sportscar performance, achieving 0-60mph in under four seconds. The SKYE is available in two variants: a ‘dynamic’ model for road use and a more rugged ‘capable’ version for off-road adventures. The ‘capable’ variant is set to be unveiled in 2025.
With prices ranging from £80,000 to £110,000, the CALLUM SKYE is now available for order. The vehicle marks CALLUM’s first fully in-house designed and engineered project, setting the stage for future innovations in the electric vehicle market.
